Film idea..
My film idea is based on a middle aged man who suffers with OCD. The start of the film introduces his life as a man who suffers with this illness and shows the audience what that illness involves. He then meets this girl at the doctor surgery, after having one of his weekly check ups. They instantly connect and over time they become boyfriend and girlfriend. She loves how he had lock the doors at night 7 times and that he has to switch the lights on and off 14 times before he goes to bed. But after time she starts to get sick of him - causing her to be late, as he has to kiss her 8 times in the morning before she goes to work and he starts to become obsessive over her and starts to emotionally abuse her because he knows he is loosing her. She then leaves him and he gets depressed. It has a sad ending as he is left alone and doesn't win her back. Throughout the film, we see faint flashbacks of when he was a child (parents arguing over his OCD, his parents then getting a divorce, him also getting bullied at school) these flashbacks become clearer the more depressed he gets throughout the film. Narration also plays a massive role as he hears voices of himself telling him to do stuff that someone without OCD wouldn't normally do. The story shows the serious side to having OCD and highlights how society shuns people off that are different instead of giving them help.
SOURCES
I found this poem, written by Neil Hilborn, particularly moving. I instantly wanted to create a story based on this poem as I thought OCD is an illness that should be taken more seriously.
